Lesson Learned from FB Jail
Over the past 16 years, Facebook has grown to become one of the most popular ways for us to connect with our friends and families both near & far. We have made new friendships and rekindled old ones. We have been able to connect with communities of like-minded people that share common interests and hobbies.
By design, Facebook has become the new “town square” of yesteryear. It is the place that we go to share our highs & lows, brag about our kids, share pictures of our adventures and feel like we are part of a bigger community. Many of us have become addicted and have given up our privacy in exchange for the good feelings.
Recently, I completed a 30 day “ban” from Facebook. Over a period of nearly 2 years, I had slowly built a community in a Private FB Group. This means that anyone that joined….did so willingly and of their own free will. They could leave at any time. They were there by choice.
This ban turned out to be a wonderful blessing in disguise. It is no surprise that FACTS are forbidden on FB. The censorship is insane. You are not allowed to have an opinion that differs from the propaganda that is being forced upon us from every media outlet. There is a reason that THOUSANDS of people & groups were permanently removed in October. You are not allowed to think for yourself.
We all know that other platforms exist; I had already joined a few sensing the impending ban, but I rarely went to them or checked in. Being banned from FB….forced me into a big beautiful “world” of people and information. It is time to get out and see what the world has to offer. Do you wonder what you are “missing” out on?
FB is like your home. It is where your family & friends are. It is your comfort zone. Isn’t it time to leave home once in a while? Why not get out and explore a little? You may find that a great adventure waits. You will discover new friends and new information that you never knew existed because you have been “sheltered” from a world that is being hidden from you. You can always go back “home” once in a while. But you will never know what is out there if you never take the first step out the door. What are you waiting for? Take the first step…..an adventure of new discoveries lies ahead.
